The pressure to adhere to unrealistic beauty standards has never been more prominent for women of all ages. The myth that beauty is only attributed to our physical appearance has grown alongside the introduction of social media into everyday lives. Images of people on social media with seemingly perfect faces and bodies can lead to eating disorders, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and social isolation. Social media places a lot of pressure on young girls to look and act a certain way. The truth is, nobody is perfect and chasing perfection is a sure way to increase feelings of insecurity. Meeting family and friends in person and engaging in real life conversations is a great way to relieve social media pressure. Enjoying real life interactions with loved ones is much more fun for the mind, body and soul.
