Description
‘Emerald Peacock’ is characterized by the prominent use of a green palette, including iridescent green, gracing the tail plumage of a green peacock spreading his tail feathers as part of a courtship ritual. Each stroke of paint is applied with the use of palette knives creating overlapping and intertwining layers, giving the impression of depth and movement. The majestic presence of the peacock is further established but the white and gold strokes inspired by the ‘hundreds of eyes’ in the peacock’s tail, representing the Sun and the stars.
My abstract paintings are a visual representation of my unconscious mind and creativity. Sometimes I start to paint from a place of inner peace; other times, from the urge to express a more unsettled inner world. Either way, the painting process is cathartic and grounding. It unfolds intuitively and it is always guided by music, which channels my emotions. When I paint, I feel that the invisible becomes visible, with no limit to what the final piece may express or evoke, over time. I know that the painting is finished when I feel that the composition is harmonious, energetic, and uplifting.
āBeyond what you can seeā¦ā is a collection of evocative abstract paintings representing my idiosyncratic association of colours to certain natural elements or phenomena, and my emotional response to the great variety and stunning beauty of the natural world that I have either seen in real life or only in pictures or imagined. This series invites the viewer to connect with nature through my abstract aesthetic interpretation of it.
The paintings in this collection are crowded with spontaneous paint strokes, superimposed layers of vivid acrylic colours, contrasting shapes and paint splatters. I use palette knives, sponges, brushes, glitters, crushed beads, and gold/silver leaves, amongst others, to achieve the effect I want.
