This is mixed media collage workshop that encourages the individual to work in a modern abstract manner. Students will work directly from a clothed model who is dressed to a particular theme and are encouraged to explore the human body and how it relates to clothes, costume and fashion design.
Emphasis is placed on drawing, mark making and layering the subject with layers of mediums including tissue and brown paper aswell as drawing over the the figure with guache, charcoal, graphite and gold paint.
By working with the figure we will look at tone, shadow and line work much like any other life drawing class, observing the gesture of the body and placement of the head and hands and how they relate to the overall composition. The form is then abstracted and layered with the use of collage to create a contemporary stylized artwork that suggests a likeness to the model.
