Distortions, a visual reflection on the mechanisms by which we control the stories we tell ourselves, and the influence others exert on the narrative. Moments in time are elevated, aggravated, twisted, reversed and re-framed. Memories are fallible, unlimited by the imagination and coloured by the culture in which we live.
Mythology, fiction, popular culture and prose weave throughout the artwork, offering a lens through which infinite possibilities can be perceived. Through the interplay of light, shade and form, the boundary between reality and illusion is blurred, concealing an alternative version. Once cognisant of these manipulations, the intelligent mind opens to question the subjectivity embedded in our individual and collective viewpoints. This body of work invites the viewer to contemplate the myriad distortions warping our perspective, identity and place within the world.
